An honest exploration of the symptoms of anxiety and what learning to manage it can look like.

This is a book about anxiety. Having anxiety doesn’t just mean you feel nervous sometimes or need to calm down. It means having an uncontrollable feeling that gets in the way of what you normally do. This book explores how anxiety impacts kids and the steps they can take to begin to manage anxiety.

Ross Szabo (he/him) is an award-winning pioneer of the youth mental health movement. He is currently the Wellness Director at Geffen Academy at UCLA and CEO of the Human Power Project. He’s using both of these opportunities to change the way communities learn about mental health.

My daughter has increasingly struggled with anxiety over the last year. After a particularly difficult moment, we sat and read this together. Giving her words for what she felt and experienced was so empowering and has changed her response to those feelings since. So thankful!

Disappointed

As someone who suffers from anxiety, I felt it was too black and white. The distinction between nervousness and anxiety is very gray and the book generalizes the feelings that go along with feeling anxious. I feel it would make some kids feel dismissed. I felt dismissed because that is not at all how my anxiety manifests.

Perfect for my kiddo

I read this book for the first time with my son last night. I've suffered from anxiety most of my life and this book explained it so perfectly for his 6year old mind to understand. He was able to better understand his own emotions while learning about mental health. I'm so happy I've found this book!

Validation

I am an adult, a therapist, AND I live with anxiety. I got this book for my practice with kids, and I found MYSELF validated... like the lumpy throated, I may cry because I feel SEEN kind of validated. I love this book.
