For Ages 5+
Growing up, the authors of this book didn’t see families that looked like theirs. As the gay dads to 4 adopted kiddos, they’re here to show the world that ALL kinds of families are beautiful and possible! These dads share their journey in becoming parents and the empowering message that no matter who you are, you can build a family—all you need is love (and maybe ice cream and silliness) to make it happen.
Jonathan (he/him) and Thomas (he/him) West are married, gay dads to 4 adopted children, live in Vermont, and are committed to sharing their lives to bring about the change they want to see in the world. Jonathan is a CTO of a software company, and Thomas is a retired US Army veteran and stay-at-home dad.

As a gay dad myself, I loved seeing this book about an honest yet simple outline of same sex families. Navigating questions as a gay dad from other parents or friends can be difficult at times, not to mention how hard it is for our children. Jonathan and Thomas provide a biography of their lives as a loving couple and then as gay dads and how they have chosen to grow their families. It is a quick read that easily can be a bedtime story. Recommend this both to children of same sex parents, as well to all kids/parents who are curious about families different from their own.
This book has made a wonderful addition to my sons home library collection. I love the messages that authors Jonathan and Thomas West deliver, especially their emphasis on acceptance through visibility.
Families are unique and come in all different shapes, sizes, colors, genders, etc. This book is able to deliver that message first hand, and provide real life examples thanks to the authors.
This book is so much more than just a peak into the lives of same-sex parents. It’s a celebration of acceptance and love.
